Getting the Windows on my Car Tinted

While I haven’t owned my vehicle for that long, I love it.  Sure, it might just look like a used car to most people, but when I look at it, I see one thing: freedom.  I love that I don’t have to ride the bus or walk anymore and instead of being constrained to my side of the city, I can always drive off into the distance now.

But everything is not perfect with my car.  While it may be mechanically sound, I really wanted to get a vehicle with tinted windows.

You would think that here would be a lot of cars and trucks with tinted windows for sale on the used vehicle market, but I just couldn’t find any within my price range.

So, I decided to buy a car that I would be happy with and get the windows tinted on my own.

Thankfully, I know of a place that does window tinting in Melbourne and I will be taking my car there.  I’ve already made an appointment at Ozone Tint for next Monday and then I should have everything in order.

Once everything is done, I might just have to take a road trip with my friends.

It will be fun.

I am Richer Than You

richer than you

Life is a competition.  Those who are better than others enjoy a better life than someone that doesn’t compete for their share.  In many ways, it is the survival of the fittest – either you stake your claim and have an amazing life, or you struggle through it.

Which would you choose?

RicherThanYou.com is a new website where you can stake your claim and tell the world who is better.  They have a leaderboard where you can stake your claim at being the richest.

How do you do that?

Easy.  You just sign up and buy your position.  People on the leaderboard are sorted by how much money they have paid for their spot, so all you need to do is pay a little more than the guy on top to claim that spot for your own.

You can then share the fact that you are richer than everyone else with your friends and on your social profiles.  It is easy to let them know what you’ve accomplished in life.

You can then enjoy all of the fame, prestige and bragging rights from your new position on Richer Than You.

What are you waiting for?

Cleaning my Grandmother’s House

If you know my grandmother, you know one thing – she is a packrat.  I hope that it isn’t genetic, but I know that I do collect a lot of stuff that I just don’t need to do.  But it doesn’t mean that I can’t help her get her mess under control.

I was going to post some before and after pictures of her place, but she asked me not too.  She is one of those people that are always concerned with keeping up appearances, so I won’t put any pictures up out of respect to her.

But I will put this picture up of the cup of tea she made me:

It was delightful.

To be honest with you, I don’t care whether or not we actually get the cleaning done – I love spending time with my grandmother.

Setting Up our New Apartment

While I wasn’t sure that we would find a place, I think we have finally found a place to call home.  Our apartment is situated just a few blocks from school and work so that we can walk to either place.  The rent was actually less than we were expecting, so we can use the money that we save to eat a little better than we have been (instead of hotdogs and macaroni).

Our New apartment suite

We still have to find more curtains for our bedrooms and get a new bed, and then our place will be complete.

It feels really nice to finally have a place to call home.

Enjoying a Day Out Skiing

skiing in winter

When it comes to winter, I like to get out as much as I can.  I love this time of year as I don’t have to contend with allergies, and honestly the cold doesn’t bother me.  There are plenty of sports that I can partake in including snowmobiling, snow shoeing, and skiing.

In fact, today we spent the entire day skiing, and it was great.  I took the kids out with us too, and we had a lot of fun.  There is just something about exercising in the cold, and I love it.

I’m hoping that we get out a lot more this winter, but we’ll have to see – we have quite a lot going on this year and are busy.

Looking for a Good Movie Player

While I love my phone, the included movie player for my HTC One is inadequate for most movie formats.  I tend to watch movies on my phone while I am at work to pass the time, and if I can’t watch even the most basic movie formats, I would have to bring a laptop or some other way to play movies while I am at work.

So, I have been looking online to find a good movie player, and I have narrowed it down to two: either the VLC Media Player, or MX Player.

While I love MX Player, I don’t really care so much for all of the advertising.  I don’t want to chew up the data on my limited data plan.

VLC Media player is good, but it is glitchy for me.  It doesn’t work right all of the time, and I find it really frustrating that it won’t let me start off where I left off the last time I watched my movie.

I guess I’ll use one of these now, but at some point I hope that there is a program that works just fine for my needs.

Should I Buy Dying Light?

Dying Light is set to be released right away and I don’t know if I should buy it.  I mean, the game looks good, and I am a big fan of zombie games, but would I be better off waiting for Dead Island 2?

According to this video, I don’t need to buy a bunch of games if I buy Dying Light.

Hard to Believe it is a New Year

While 2014 just went by so quickly, it is hard to believe that it is a new year already.  I suppose that is exactly what happens when you get older, but that doesn’t make it feel any more reassuring.  I know that I don’t really feel any older except for watching time go by, so it makes me wonder how I will feel about it when I am an old man.

I still have a few years until that happens.

My big plans here for this year will be to make my business more successful than it has ever been, make something with eggplant (I’ve never tried cooking with it yet), and rediscover our marriage.

While 2014 was a rough year, I think that this year will be different – we’ll just have to see if it goes as I predict it will.

Happy New Year!
