Getting Everything ready for my Wedding Day

With my wedding day approaching quickly, I have been frantically trying to get everything arranged so that the day goes off without a hitch.  I have enlisted the help of my best friend Jill and my sister to get everything arranged on time.

So far everything is falling into place perfectly.

The church and hall are booked, the caterer has confirmed the date, and today our discount wedding sparklers showed up by courier.  I’ve put the sparklers with everything else for the reception, and after we get a few more items, we should have everything set to go.

The only real area where we have been struggling to get our act together would be with the photographer.  While i had originally hoped to work with one of my good friends, she has bowed out because her father is ill.  So I am looking for someone else to be our photographer, but I am having little luck since it is such short notice.  It is really stressing me out, but I know that worrying about it won’t change anything.

I just have to have faith that everything will work out.

With only a couple of weeks to go, I am getting nervous – hopefully my wedding day will go smoothly.

Replacing Windows for Grandma

Since my grandmother will be celebrating her 89th birthday this year, we thought we would do something special when it came to her gift.  She still lives in the same house she has lived in for the last fifty years, and while it keeps the rain off of her head, there are a number of things that need quite a bit of work.  But since she is on a limited budget, many of those projects get pushed to the side as she can’t afford them.

One of the biggest problems with her home are her windows.  They all leak, and we have decided to replace the windows on her home for her birthday.  I know that it isn’t the most exciting birthday gift by any means, but it will be something that she will appreciate.

We have made arrangements to get a company to come out that specializes in replacement windows Pasadena.  They are supposed to come out at the end of the week and replace all of the windows on the home.  While they are working on the house, we will take grandma out for some ice cream.

I just hope she likes her gift and will enjoy it for many years to come.

Building my First Email List

If you asked me ten years ago if I thought that I was going to be an author at some point in my life, I would have laughed at you.  At the time, I didn’t really write more than a few words, and you would never have been able to get me to write a few pages let alone a book.

But things change, and since I was diagnosed with celiac disease, my life has been turned upside down.  It has been a real challenge changing habits that I had developed over the course of my life, but I chronicled my struggles and how I overcame them into a book I ended up publishing.

Now that the book is published online, I have found myself with a bit of a following thanks to the people that subscribed to my autoresponder series.  I picked as my email marketing service of choice because of the low price and how easy it was to add to my site.  I’m no coding guru, and adding the opt-in box was very easy.

Now all I will have to do is figure out how to best monetize these subscribers – I love how running a business is a continual learning process.

Drinking Tea to Relax Before Bed

What a long day.

We had company for the entire day here for Easter, and we had a blast.  My wife’s parents were up from the city and my sister’s family made it out here today too.  We had a wonderful time and about ten kids running around all day, so I am tired out.

Our company just left about an hour ago, and the wife and I have been tidying up before we head to bed.  We both have to go to work in the morning, but it feels like we didn’t even get to have a weekend because we hosted so many people at our home.

I’m tuckered out.

We are both going to sit down and have a cup of premium tea to wind down and relax before bed.  We don’t usually drink tea at this time of night, but it will give us the opportunity to connect and visit before we start our busy work week again.

I love this passion fruit tea that we bought from Thao Tea Co.  It is delicious and perfect for drinking at this time of day since it is caffeine free.

I think we’ll only be up for the next half-hour or so and then we will have to call it a night.  We both have to get up early in the morning tomorrow and we don’t want to be late for work.

LEAKED: Robert Nikic Rejected $2.7M Acquisition Proposal

This should be a topic twist compared to my usual posts, sometimes I bring a few leaks to the table with the connections that I have in the technology world.

Robert Nikic, the 22 year old CEO of Herolocity has been put on the edge in this year for Herolocity’s latest innovational culture that could change the way websites are designed, created, whatever, all-together.

It has been revealed that in August of 2014, Robert Nikic declined on an acquisition proposal from one of the largest CP providers in the world, for the sake of my reputation and legal matters that come with it, the company’s name cannot be revealed but shouldn’t be the hardest to guess either.

The details of the acquisition are rough, but the scope was to create a plugin that would allow the CP provider to offer Herolocity’s platform to potentially millions of users that use the panel while continuing to develop and expand the plugin/software under the CP’s command.

Now to the caveat, it would involve Robert Nikic and Herolocity merging with the company, receiving a payoff for the merge and Robert Nikic having an executive based position with the company managing the development and overseeing the team of talents. Not so clear whether Herolocity’s employees other than Robert were involved in the potential merger.

With my own implied and expressed opinion, the payoff would have been close to the 2.7 million mark. One of the largest mergers for just a mere plugin.

Robert Nikic isn’t one of the most highlighted individuals, from the lack of social media accounts, involvement in forums and overall transparency in the open source community for technology that could help drive innovation, I think that there is more than meets the eye with this foreign but unveiled individual and concept of technology overall.

A long shot, but I emailed Robert Nikic for a comment on the topic since the lack of a pledged social media presence and received a tender reply of “No Comment.” At least I didn’t get referred to a legal department like I did in my previous post with the “Net Honey Bee” creator.

The decline on the proposal was quite the jab hook in jaw. The young and bright company could have used this opportunity to have millions of users testing and using the product in less than 24 hours. With Robert Nikic being the CEO of Herolocity, the decline seems to show that he is much more involved and passionate about the product and technology – the creator? This means that there are more means to the product/service/technology that haven’t been mentioned, at least in my perspective.

Young companies, start-ups and entrepreneurs typically seek funding and angel investors day and night. 2.7 Million dollars doesn’t seem to interest Robert, this interests me, Forbes, The Huffington Post, Tech Cocktail, Mashable and handfuls of other tech websites that have written about the situation.

I’ll be sure to keep this post updated as things start to unfold more.

UPDATE: Robert Nikic has promised “transparency” in the “internet landscape” within due time. I think it may be a bit too late. I’m sure the transparency that will be offered will be written half-off by NDA agreements. Still waiting.

UPDATE: Robert Nikic has created a Twitter account. Following all the typical spotlights in the industry with no tweets in the past week, I have decided to shoot one over to him to get the involvement in action!

UPDATE: It looks like Mr. Nikic appeared at the “Tampa Convention” in Florida according to Jessalyn with a quick Google search of Robert’s Name.

UPDATE: Robert Nikic commented, letting the internet community know that the name and concept of the sister company of Herolocity targeting designers will be announced in early May.

Getting the Windows on my Car Tinted

While I haven’t owned my vehicle for that long, I love it.  Sure, it might just look like a used car to most people, but when I look at it, I see one thing: freedom.  I love that I don’t have to ride the bus or walk anymore and instead of being constrained to my side of the city, I can always drive off into the distance now.

But everything is not perfect with my car.  While it may be mechanically sound, I really wanted to get a vehicle with tinted windows.

You would think that here would be a lot of cars and trucks with tinted windows for sale on the used vehicle market, but I just couldn’t find any within my price range.

So, I decided to buy a car that I would be happy with and get the windows tinted on my own.

Thankfully, I know of a place that does window tinting in Melbourne and I will be taking my car there.  I’ve already made an appointment at Ozone Tint for next Monday and then I should have everything in order.

Once everything is done, I might just have to take a road trip with my friends.

It will be fun.

I am Richer Than You

richer than you

Life is a competition.  Those who are better than others enjoy a better life than someone that doesn’t compete for their share.  In many ways, it is the survival of the fittest – either you stake your claim and have an amazing life, or you struggle through it.

Which would you choose? is a new website where you can stake your claim and tell the world who is better.  They have a leaderboard where you can stake your claim at being the richest.

How do you do that?

Easy.  You just sign up and buy your position.  People on the leaderboard are sorted by how much money they have paid for their spot, so all you need to do is pay a little more than the guy on top to claim that spot for your own.

You can then share the fact that you are richer than everyone else with your friends and on your social profiles.  It is easy to let them know what you’ve accomplished in life.

You can then enjoy all of the fame, prestige and bragging rights from your new position on Richer Than You.

What are you waiting for?

Claim your spot now and get the attention that you deserve

Cleaning my Grandmother’s House

If you know my grandmother, you know one thing – she is a packrat.  I hope that it isn’t genetic, but I know that I do collect a lot of stuff that I just don’t need to do.  But it doesn’t mean that I can’t help her get her mess under control.

I was going to post some before and after pictures of her place, but she asked me not too.  She is one of those people that are always concerned with keeping up appearances, so I won’t put any pictures up out of respect to her.

But I will put this picture up of the cup of tea she made me:

cup of tea

It was delightful.

To be honest with you, I don’t care whether or not we actually get the cleaning done – I love spending time with my grandmother.

Setting Up our New Apartment

While I wasn’t sure that we would find a place, I think we have finally found a place to call home.  Our apartment is situated just a few blocks from school and work so that we can walk to either place.  The rent was actually less than we were expecting, so we can use the money that we save to eat a little better than we have been (instead of hotdogs and macaroni).

Our New apartment suite

We still have to find more curtains for our bedrooms and get a new bed, and then our place will be complete.

It feels really nice to finally have a place to call home.

Enjoying a Day Out Skiing

skiing in winter

When it comes to winter, I like to get out as much as I can.  I love this time of year as I don’t have to contend with allergies, and honestly the cold doesn’t bother me.  There are plenty of sports that I can partake in including snowmobiling, snow shoeing, and skiing.

In fact, today we spent the entire day skiing, and it was great.  I took the kids out with us too, and we had a lot of fun.  There is just something about exercising in the cold, and I love it.

I’m hoping that we get out a lot more this winter, but we’ll have to see – we have quite a lot going on this year and are busy.
